Privacy Policy

Template: review and adapt this policy, ideally with a professional, before publishing. Last updated: [DATE].

Wangari Apartments ("we") respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law.

What we collect

When you apply to rent, we collect: names and email addresses of all occupants aged 19+, photos of government-issued ID for those occupants, employment details (employer, position, income, length of employment), a work reference, and current landlord details and a landlord reference. This website itself does not use tracking cookies or collect personal information. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs.

Why we collect it

Only to assess your rental application, verify identity, contact references, and, if you become a tenant, manage the tenancy. We will not sell your information or use it for marketing.

Consent

By submitting an application you consent to this collection and to us contacting the references you provide. You may withdraw consent at any time, though we may then be unable to process your application.

How we store and protect it

Applications, including ID photos, are submitted through a third-party form service using encrypted connections (HTTPS) and encrypted storage. ID photos are not stored on this website's server. Access is limited to the landlord. The service may store data outside Canada; if so, it may be subject to the laws of that country.

Retention

Information from applicants who don't become tenants is deleted within [90 days] of the decision. Tenant information is kept for the tenancy and as required by law, then securely deleted. ID images are deleted once identity is verified.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at [contact email]. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

Changes

We may update this policy and will post the updated version here.
